Join the Perrysburg Symphony and the Perrysburg Chorale as they present Benjamin Britten's legendary cantata on the eve of the feast of St. Nicholas. Alongside the Perrysburg Symphony and Perrysburg Chorale, this performance features tenor Christopher Scholl and students from Notre Dame Academy.

Tenor Christopher Scholl returned to the United States after almost 20 years in Europe, where he enjoyed a highly successful career in opera, oratorio and recital. He performed throughout Europe, singing in cities such as Munich, Mannheim, Leipzig, Paris, Marseilles and Trieste. He also collaborated with esteemed conductors such as Jiri Kout, Klauspeter Siebel, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Gerard Oskamp and Carlos Kleiber, as well as working with stage directors Klaus von Wangelin, Uwe Schwarz and Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. His operatic repertoire embraces music from the Baroque to the 20th Century.
Christopher Scholl joined the voice faculty of College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University in 1997. Since returning to the USA he has performed recitals at Bowling Green as well as in Toledo, OH, Ithaca, NY, Dekalb, IL, Saint Peter, MN, and Baltimore, MD. Christopher Scholl has performed the "Messiah" with the Toledo Symphony and Beethoven's "9th Symphony" with the Detroit Civic Orchestra. He sang Franz Schubert's "Die schöne Müllerin" in Amarillo, TX. and performed in Houston, TX. Benjamin Britten's "Serenade for Tenor Horn and Strings" with members of the Houston Symphony. Most recently, Christopher Scholl sang in Carlyle Floyd's opera "Susannah", Douglas Tappin's "I Dream" and "The Magic Flute" with the Toledo Opera.
Perrysburg Chorale Director, Luke Rosen

Luke D. Rosen received his BM in Choral Music Education and his MM in Choral Conducting Performance at Bowling Green State University, where he was also a composition student. Vocal teachers have included Mary Alexander (Cincinnati) and Christopher Scholl (BGSU), and conducting teachers have included Mark Munson and Emily Freeman Brown (both at BGSU).
Since 2019, he has served as the Director of Choral Music at Evergreen Local Schools, where he has taught middle school and high school choir, music theory, and is currently designing a songwriting class. For 15 years before that, he served as Director of Choral and Liturgical Music at St. John's Jesuit High School.
He was Director of Music Ministry at Corpus Christi University Parish at the University of Toledo for 23 years before moving to the same position at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford in 2022.
Over the last 20 years, he has music directed and conducted dozens of musicals for local companies, including the Toledo Rep, Waterville Playshop, Cutting Edge, and TBD Productions.
In addition to choral conducting, he is a published composer with multiple companies, including E.C. Schirmer, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Oregon Catholic Press, Liturgical Press, and GIA. Premieres of his compositions have been given by the Tower Brass Quintet, Singing Men of Ohio (Ohio University), BGSU, Toledo School of the Arts, and many other schools and churches. He has scored incidental music for productions at both The Croswell and the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, and has written a full musical, Common Grounds, which was premiered and recorded by Evergreen High School in 2022. |
